Pusey really was quite wonderful, a mystic in his way, and a great proponent of the Eastern doctrine of theosis. He was not about the ritual of the liturgy so much as the theology and the ascetic discipline that it engenders. This, I think, is putting the horse before the cart, where it belongs.
