I loved the comment you made about the remainder being gathered into the 12 tribes! I don't think I can offer any help regarding the 2 and the 1. The heart of the man was not in right relationship to God to be sure and thus he would need to fall on the rock of Christ and be broken (Matt 21:44) and thus being made into 2 become fruitful for the kingdom.
